The final book in the post-apocalyptic BREAKERS series.
Blackout Breakers Book 8 eBook Edward W Robertson
This is the final book in the series and it does justice to this authors writings. If you have read any of the previous series you will know that this author writes in a manner that is compelling and keeps the reader entertained. He does not fall short in this book.I had previously found this first book in the series for free and had read it. After that I was hooked and I had to read every book in the series. Fortunately for me all of the books were already written and I did not have to wait. I would have been desperate for the new books to come if I had had to wait.
This final book ties every one of the characters together seamlessly. There is no empty threads like you sometimes fine with authors that right large series books. Often by the third or fourth book I am bored out of my skull and I do not want to read anymore from that author.
This is definitely not the case with this series. Everything is answered here and wrapped up in a bow. I was not at all dissatisfied with the way the author finalize the series. I do wish it hadn't ended I really enjoyed reading all of the books.
It is clear that the author is well-versed in the topics that he is discussing. I have thought throughout the series that this author may well be a prepper which in today's world is laugh that a bit. When you read this series you actually will learn some good techniques for survival shockingly if you just pay attention.
If you have not read the first book and the other remaining six books prior to this book I suggest you return to the first book purchase all seven books prior to this book and enjoy yourself a good time. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed with your purchase. And you will contribute to an excellent author's bank account.
Good luck! It is thrilling ride reading the series.

Blackout Breakers Book 8 eBook Edward W Robertson Reviews
I just finished this series, and I have to say that it was awesome. I have read many young adult type series over the last several years because I generally enjoy their story lines, but I abhor the childish behavior of the characters and the ridiculous 16-year-old-saves-the-world repetition. I frequently have to skip long portions of childhood love because it'll drive me nuts to read it again. The Breaker Series is essentially the next step for someone who finds some enjoyment out of those stories but wants to skip the teeny-bopper crap.
I loved the varying characters that the story follows and how their paths intersect. I especially love this book in particular because of how those stories that may have touched on one another in the previous books finally truly come together. In short, READ THIS SERIES. You'll be glad you did.
A tremendous congratulations and thank you to Ed Robertson for staying the course and creating the end-of-world series of the decade.
I wasn't quite on the bandwagon back at Book 1 - and I'm on record as saying the character Walt was pretty sloppy and irritating at first. But the Breakers series has grown. And evolved. Once Ness and Tristan were introduced, the series took its rightful place in the annals of beautiful science fiction. (As I've written in an earlier review, I consider Cut Off to be the apex of the series, and the point at which this saga re-tuned and really took off.)
And bonus points for an epilogue that made me bawl like a baby. EVERYONE's back for a moment or two, and that's absolutely terrific.
Even more bonus points for Robertson's new series set a thousand years hence, with all new characters but a return of the Swimmers.
And finally, a plug for Robertson's book The Cutting Room - if you loved Breakers, you will surely love what appears to be a new series by an incredible author.
Thanks Ed. You're a master storyteller.
This was a great finale to the series, in my opinion. It was faithful to everything about every character. The characters grew, but the jerks didn't suddenly become great people and the great ones jerks, or the troubled became models of mental health or vice versa. The events of this book were true to the 8-book series, and to the concept that's supposed to form the backbone of the Swimmers. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that the epilogue was a welcome wrap-up of where everyone is when the...well, that would be spoiling it, wouldn't it?
Sorry to see the saga end. I think that perhaps there are more stories to be told in this universe between this one and the Rebel Star series. I hope someday to read some of those tales. (Or maybe Ed Robertson will turn this into a " World" and let others play in his universe, and I can read those...) Very satisfied with this story, and series.
Since a teenager, I have always enjoyed post apocolyptic fiction and have read many of the greats in this genre. The last few years, the zombie books have been a "pandemic" in this type of fiction and I am weary of it. Yes, I read a few and really enjoyed them but I am tired of this subject.
Mr. Robertson brought a fresh twist that offered many enjoyable elements. I waited until the final installment to write a review because I wanted to see if the series would live up to itself throughout. It did and the author is to be commended. These days, you most often get the big bang in the first book and the series dwindle to nothing but fodder to pull you along in hopes of another bang.
The characters were well developed and the story felt immersive. For me, I could easily build the visual story in my mind which is one of the things I love most about reading. I loved the way a new book often brought a new locale and new characters, but there was always connectivity within the story.
So, if your are a lover of PA fiction, the Breakers series will not disappoint.
